Team Culture Profiling Framework

Process model (Team Culture profiling is not an isolated process but works within the framework of an organizations Human Capital and Knowledge Management Strategy).

Team culture profiling is much like profiling corporate values the teams values should be a direct reflection of the corporate stance; however there are a number of other dimensions affecting a group of people relating to specific teams. Its not uncommon for an Engineering Team to operate in quite a different way to a Finance or Marketing Team, the aims and objectives and culture of a specific technical group and the knowledge requirements would be quite different. A technical team would be more analytical or science based in their approach to work so its critical to understand differences in approach and thinking. Often different thinking styles and professional development lead to conflicts or different agendas. Professional groups are also often not developed in a way that requires them to own interpersonal and group culture awareness.

What we do about this is easy to address we build into the know-how requirements of a team not just communication skills but cultural team awareness skills ensuring that different backgrounds have the capability to relate too and interact with people from other different professional and thinking backgrounds (this is a critically important element but in our experience is often overlooked).
