Our Company Name

Since the early part of the 18th century, fine china has been manufactured in North Staffordshire, and one of its many local companies (circa 1745) is Wedgwood, (founded by Josiah Wedgwood 1730 – 1795).
About Our Company
We are based in Nottingham England which is famous for a number of things including Robin Hood. We still enjoy Nottingham Castle and a Sheriff of Nottingham; so was Robin really a myth?
Nottinghamshire has seen considerable change in the last 30 years, from its roots in the heavy manufacturing industry, mining, fine lace, and hosiery. Now towards top end IT, finance, and an ever expanding service sector. This trend is set to continue.
In 2005 Nottingham was designated as a Science City in recognition of its rich scientific heritage, industrial base, and role as a leading research centre.
Nottingham with two world class universities has since embarked on a wide range of business, property, knowledge transfer and educational initiatives, in order to build on its growing reputation, as an international centre of scientific excellence. Our Company Name
England has always been famous for its great mix of cultures and for beautiful countryside, but less known for its heritage in the manufacture of fine bone china, particularly in North Staffordshire, the company principal’s home county.
Since the early part of the 18th century, fine china has been manufactured in North Staffordshire, and one of its many local companies (circa 1745) is Wedgwood, (founded by Josiah Wedgwood 1730 – 1795). Wedgwood, England’s finest china company, has been synonymous with beauty, craftsmanship and innovation for almost 250 years. Founded by Josiah Wedgwood I, known as the ‘father of English potters’, Wedgwood created the ornamental wares black basalt and Jasper for which the company is still renowned and perfected Queen’s Ware, the company’s celebrated cream coloured ceramic body.
Wedgwood, has been referred to as a genius for his design and cutting edge manufacturing techniques, today he would be referred to as Creative and Innovative. The imposing figure of Josiah Wedgwood – the potter, scientist and industrialist who created one of the world’s first luxury brands in 1759 and with it a device for measuring the heat inside ovens. Royal families of Europe were demanding his stuff long before it became the staple of wedding lists and golden wedding anniversaries.
The Wedgwood company, still has an international reputation and brand for producing fine china, but one name in particular is Wedgwood Blue, also known as Jasper Blue is synonymouse with our company, the blue colour on this site is Jasper, because of its distinctive colour and texture, this is where our company name originates.

Specialists Advisory Team
Dr. Simon DoddsDr. Simon Dodds is Jasper Internationals Specialist Advisor on Improvement Science [IS] and Value System Design [VSD] and will be instrumental in how Jasper is designed and organised and how its services are applied. A Consultant Surgeon and trained software engineer with 30 years of experience. Simon discovered the Three Wins® principle over the course of a five year programme of continuous improvement of the outpatient service at his hospital. His team was rewarded with two national innovation awards for service improvement in 2004 which provided the stimulus to learn more about the Science of Improvement. In 2007 he published “Three Wins: Service Improvement using Value System Design” which outlines the Three Wins® approach. Simon has tested and applied the methods to every part of his clinical practice and has consistently demonstrated quality, delivery and productivity improvements. “Value System Design is different from, yet complementary to, incremental improvement methods. VSD starts with specifying exactly what a service needs to look like in the future if it is going to provide improved safety, quality, delivery and affordability. It then builds the design directly to meet that required specification – without error or waste – and from that a planned series of logical, rational, measurable and manageable steps. Through this process the specification is assured before the service is even launched.”

Company Values and Beleifs

Values and Beleifs
Central to the company vision and values is to grow the idea that business can be ethical and very profitable at the same time. Taking the moral high ground has its difficulties and risks so there will be challenges, but we believe that organisations and the people in them will want to be part of and be associated with something which has and is built upon principles. Embedding ethical values into the way any organisation operates is a challenging and lengthy process; doing so effectively requires patience, consistency and vision. Trust is an essential enabler of successful and effective relationships in any personal or business context. Understanding and managing trust is a critical competency for individuals or organisations that take their ethical values seriously….
Our Values and Beliefs
Personal Ethics – An Essential Ingredient of Leaders of Tomorrow. The word ethics as called ethicus in Latin and ethikos in Greek, stems from the word ethos which means the science of morals. A simple definition of ethics is: a set of principles of right conduct. Ethics serve as guidelines for analysing â€what is good or bad’ in a specific scenario. They create a framework for determining right versus wrong, and represent the core value system for every day problem solving. Ethics are the systematic, rational reflection upon a choice of behaviour and can be taught.
Personal ethics are not a conventional set of laws that are passed on from generations by birth; they grow and are crafted over time. Personal ethics are the moral foundation based on values, on which individuals construct their lives. Contributing factors towards their development are family influence, religious beliefs, culture, personal experiences and internal reflection.
- All businesses operate on the basis of core values – implicit or explicit
- These include business values and ethical values
Close customer relationships, and creatively developed products and services, are defining characteristics of Jasper International. We deal in the business of helping organisations to become healthy places in which to work, and ethical places in which to trade.
Understanding and managing trust is a critical competency for individuals or organisations that take their ethical values seriously. This thinking is based upon two guiding principles, 1. that business has a deeper purpose beyond maximizing profits and shareholder value, and 2. that business is managed to optimize the value for all of the interdependent stakeholders and because of the interdependent nature of these stakeholders this strategy will result in a higher shareholder value.
We believe that leadership is the productive and moral application of influence and as a leader, you have to take personal responsibility for the organisation’s VALUES. Ours is how we can make this organisation and others as HUMAN as the people that work in them. Leadership therefore is the productive and moral application of influence.
After years of working in many companies both, corporate and public, and with the rapid changes that we all have seen economically and socially it has become apparent that extremes don’t work. We have a core values base that we believe works for us and would work for others:
People come to work with the intent of giving their best, but somehow ‘work’ unwittingly conspires to undermine people’s capability, their spirit and enthusiasm. This will change when (a) the cultural environment switches from an expectation of ‘conformance to rules’ to ‘performance from accountability’ and (b) when people see that they have an opportunity to behave differently.
All people in work are ‘volunteers’ – they don’t have to come. World-class organizations respect the lives of the people who have freely chosen to come and work, and create an environment that enables people to give their best. Emotional satisfaction from a valued job well done is greater than monetary compensation for time-served.
Conscious leadership is leadership which brings out the strengths that are in people, it is leadership that recognizes that when we hire people to work in a company we can of course buy their time and intellect and buy their work but we cannot buy their creativity, motivation and innovative abilities, these are GIFTS that employees give to the company. When the individual passion matches the corporate purpose it is this that results in profits of all kinds – it is well-being, it is happiness, it is environmental protection, it is all of those things.
It is really not a holistic treatment it is more a company way of life.
‘Performance’ is a combination of both delivery of results and the way the Values have been lived out. Principle- and Values-Based Organizations secure long-term good performance over those organizations that are only numbers-based and aggressively chase short-term targets.
Jasper International
‘Relationships are Everything’. In business, nothing will succeed without strong interpersonal relationships among work colleagues, clients, suppliers – in fact with everyone.
Relationship maturity is an attitudinal approach not a tactical expedient, and comes from a strong culture that reflects the value of relationships as being greater than the bottom-line. The bottom line is, of course, important but needs to be the outcome of relationships. Relationship-orientation is the biggest differentiators between high-performing businesses and those that struggle.
We aim to ‘bring humanity back to work’. It is a sad reflection that many people seem to live two lives:
- One at work of necessity, to pay for one’s outside work.
- Our belief is that a ‘human’ workplace encourages best performance and a balance in all aspects of life.
“If people like you, they’ll listen to you. But if they trust you, they’ll do business with you” Zig Ziglar
We achieve this, by focusing on our three business principles:
- Helping to Engage with People (Engendering Cooperation)
- Enhancing Climate and Improving Work Cultures (of Values Based, Results Orientated Environments)
- Enabling True Value (of People, Technology, Creativity and Innovation)

Dr. Virani believes in â€Doing Well by Doing Good’ and looks for opportunities to translate this management practice into theory and vice versa….
Personal Ethics – An Essential Ingredient for Leaders of Tomorrow
Ethics as called in Latin is Ethicus and in Greek Ethikos, stems from the word â€Ethos’ which means the science of morals. A simple definition of ethics is: “a set of principles of right conduct”. Ethics serve as guidelines for analyzing “what is good or bad” in a specific scenario.  They create a framework for determining “right” versus “wrong”, and represents the core value system for every day problem solving. Ethics is the systematic, rational reflection upon a choice of behavior and it can be taught.
Personal ethics are not a conventional set of laws that are passed on from generations by birth; they grow and are crafted over time. Personal ethics are the moral foundation based on values, on which individuals construct their lives. Contributing factors towards its development are; family influence, religious beliefs, culture, personal experiences and internal reflection. Personal convictions and values form the most effective basis for moral and ethical behavior. Many define personal ethics as their inner voice or as â€conscience’.
Can Ethics be taught to our budding leaders of tomorrow? It is heartening for all educationists to note that the answer is an assertive â€yes’. Harvard psychologist, Lawrence Kohlberg stated an individual’s growth in the ethical dimension happens through three levels, pre conventional, conventional and post conventional. Generally, students in higher learning institutes are adults at the conventional stage, wherein their right and wrong are based on group loyalties: loyalties to one’s family, loyalties to one’s friends, or loyalty to one’s nation. Among the many factors that stimulate ethical development to the next i.e.; post conventional stage, the most critical dynamic is â€education’. Kohlberg’s research proved that it made a huge difference when students took courses in ethics, which challenged them to look at issues from a universal point of view and helped promote universal ideals of justice, human rights and welfare.  The critical note worthy point here is – there is an interconnectedness of cognitive and moral growth. Ethical development happens over a period of time and ethics can be taught and learned.
Do personal ethics impact business and social decisions? They most certainly do. The factors that influence ethical behavior are; culture, structural variables like leadership, rewards etc and most importantly the individual characteristics like personal values, ego strength and locus of control. Ethical conduct is influenced by moral intensity, ethical sensitivity and situational influences. Ethical sensitivity requires empathy and being able to construct cause-consequence chains of events. Ethical judgment requires a mature or sophisticated ability to judge actions. Since ethical decisions involve making value judgments, problems arise when individual’s personal values are misaligned with institutional or social values resulting in ethical dissonance. When the ethical dissonance involves fidelity to one’s promises, the pain is acute. Sound ethical decision making, provides opportunities to affect our own happiness and that of the people around us. This result in peace and happiness that are so threatened in today’s tumultuous, ethically-challenged times.
The IPL row, Commonwealth Games, 2G spectrum scandal, land allotment allegations and the Adarsh housing society scam — the skeletons of corruption keep tumbling out. On the other hand the tremendous support generated for the Jan Lokpal Bill reiterates the demand for an ethical corruption free civil society. But as quoted by Alexander Solzhenitsyn, â€Even the most rational approach to ethics is defenseless if there isn’t the will to do what is right’. Can we as educationists, faculty and educational heads develop this â€will’, within ourselves and our future leaders? All educational stakeholders must determine where they can best influence and engage in the effort of integrating ethics throughout the course, curriculum, and community. Students should be engaged in a process where they can develop a greater self-understanding by introspection on their â€real self â€, reflect on their own personal ethics and on the outlook of other students who may have radically conflicting points of view than their own. It would be meaningful to enhance educational opportunities that ensure our students develop concrete personal ethics along with an understanding of various ethical theories. This would provide them with a strong frame of reference. Students should develop skills to analyze situations in terms of different theories to gives them varied ethical perspectives. Educational experiences should present occasions to practice those ethical decision making skills. The most important mandate would be to infuse the courage to give voice to their values. Social scientific research shows that self-construal – â€how people see themselves’, has a dramatic effect on their behavior. Therefore, it is essential to help students see themselves as future leaders with power and responsibilities who will be able to influence their organization and community and how the power of their personal ethics and ethical decisions can create footprints for a better world.

The World Entrepreneurship Forum
Arose from the discussions held between a few international decision-makers concerned by the state of our world.
The entrepreneur, being used to face ambiguity with pragmatism and creativity, appeared to be a cornerstone in imagining and implementing sustainable solutions to tackle with our world’s major problems.
Mr. Patrick Molle, President of EMLYON Business School was one of the decision-makers involved in these discussions. Based on his experience and vision, he imagined a global think-tank uniting international entrepreneurs from the economic, social, political, and academic fields.
The think tank aims at facilitating exchanges, being a place to share best and continuously renewing practices and promoting entrepreneurship and social justice on the global scale.
Supported by Mr. Jean-Luc Decornoy, President of KPMG, the first World Entrepreneurship Forum was held in Evian, France in November 2008 with EMLYON Business School and KPMG as Founding Members. The second edition of the World Entrepreneurship Forum was held in Lyon, France in November 2009.
In 2010, two additional founding members joined the World Entrepreneurship Forum: the Singaporean institutions Action Community for Entrepreneurship (ACE) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU).
The Action Community for Entrepreneurship is a movement that involves both the private and public sectors to create a more entrepreneurial Singapore. ACE works with partners to enhance our pro-enterprise environment; fosters an entrepreneurial culture and mindset; and facilitates networking and learning among entrepreneurs.
One of the fastest-growing research universities in the world, Nanyang Technological University is ranked among the world’s top one percent of the world’s universities according to the 2010 QS World University Rankings, and has been cited as a model for science and technology education.

GRLI is a Global Multicultural Community of Action and Learning
It operates with a fully transparent and unique governance model with all partners participating. It is legally set up as a Foundation of public interest in Belgium.
They identify and act on key leverage points for scalable change through concept development, advocacy and execution of new learning practices and work in partnership as a global community of change agents.
Today the GRLI has 67 partner organisations and is expanding rapidly. It has set a limit of 120 partners for the years to come in order to remain a fully integrated and action oriented global network, and to fulfil its unique role as a leading global catalyst for key challenges and future demands regarding how to develop a next generation of globally responsible leaders.
The work of the partners is supported by a Secretary General and a management office based at EFMD in Brussels and additional input from a team of senior advisers.
Two to three work meetings are held annually (including a formal Annual General Meeting of the Foundation). These provide a platform for continuity and face-to-face work, experience sharing and learning between qualified individuals representing dedicated organisations from all parts of the world.

Business Ethics I.B.E.
Originally, it operated as a fund within the Christian Association of Business Executives (CABE), a registered charity established to promote the study and application of Christian moral principles in the conduct of business. It was founded by Neville Cooper and launched at the Mansion House with an appeal by the Lord Mayor.
In 2000, the Institute obtained separate charitable status; its charitable article being “to advance public education in business ethics and related subjects with particular reference to the study and application of ethical standards in the management and conduct of industry and business generally in the United Kingdom and elsewhere”.
Since its founding over 20 years ago, the IBE has published over 20 books on business ethics topics; conducted surveys on the use of codes of ethics within companies; developed training programmes in business ethics, from induction programmes to the board room; worked with academics and business schools to promote the study of business ethics within MBA and business studies courses; and offered advice and support to business ethics practitioners and their companies. The IBE also holds events under the Chatham House Rule so that ethical issues which organisations commonly face may be discussed, and this has helped drive the work programme of the Institute.
Institute of Transparency I.I.T.

Transparency International
A global network including more than 90 locally established national chapters and chapters-in-formation. These bodies fight corruption in the national arena in a number of ways. They bring together relevant players from government, civil society, business and the media to promote transparency in elections, in public administration, in procurement and in business. TI’s global network of chapters and contacts also use advocacy campaigns to lobby governments to implement anti-corruption reforms.
Transparency International
Transparency International challenges the inevitability of corruption, and offers hope to its victims. Since its founding in 1993, TI has played a lead role in improving the lives of millions around the world by building momentum for the anti-corruption movement. TI raises awareness and diminishes apathy and tolerance of corruption, and devises and implements practical actions to address it.
TI has the skills, tools, experience, expertise and broad participation to fight corruption on the ground, as well as through global and regional initiatives.
Now in its second decade, Transparency International is maturing, intensifying and diversifying its fight against corruption.
Corruption is the abuse of entrusted power for private gain. It hurts everyone whose life, livelihood or happiness depends on the integrity of people in a position of authority.

Leaders and Experts from Business
Leaders and experts from business, government, civil society and academic institutions will gather for a Global Ethics Forum in Geneva from 30 June to 1 July to forge new ways of developing responsible business ethics in a rapidly changing world.
Globethics.net is a worldwide ethics network based in Geneva, with an international Board of Foundation of eminent persons. It provides an electronic platform for ethical reflection and action. Its central instrument is the internet site www.globethics.net.
The aim of Globethics.net is to ensure that people in all regions of the world are empowered to reflect and act on ethical issues. In order to ensure access to knowledge resources in applied ethics, Globethics.net has developed its Globethics.net Library, the leading global digital library on ethics. Globethics.net took this initiative to ensure that persons – especially in Africa, Asia and Latin-America – have access to good quality and up to date knowledge resources. The founding conviction of Globethics.net was that more equal access to knowledge resources in the field of applied ethics will enable persons and institutions from developing and transition economies to become more visible and audible in the global discourse on ethics. There is no cost involved in using the library. Individuals only need to register (free of charge) as participants on the Globethics.net website (www.globethics.net) to get access to all the full text journals, encyclopedias, e-books and other resources in the library.
In addition to the library, Globethics.net also offers participants on its website the opportunity to join or form electronic working groups for purposes of networking or collaborative research. The international secretariat, based in Geneva, currently concentrates on three topics of research: Business and Economic Ethics, Methodologies of Interreligious Ethics and Responsible Leadership. The knowledge produced through the working groups and research finds their way into publications that are also made available in the Globethics.net Library. One of the latest fruits of such collaborative work is the book, Overcoming Fundamentalism (edited by Christoph StĂĽckelberger and Heidi Hadsell, 2009, Geneva: Globethics.net).
